The short answer: the office-suite decision is now an AI decision. Both suites ship a serious assistant inside the subscription, so this stopped being "email and files" and became "which AI works where your team writes".

Microsoft's own Singapore page prices Business Standard with Copilot at USD$23.50/user/month, and Premium with Copilot at USD$32 (paid yearly, before GST). Google has re-tiered Workspace with Gemini bundled from its entry business tiers. But its pricing page geo-serves by visitor location, so the SGD figures have to be read from Singapore, and we say exactly what we could and couldn't verify below.

For most small SG teams it comes down to this. Heavy Excel, Word and Teams culture? Microsoft, and the bundled Copilot at $23.50 is aggressive. Browser-first, Gmail-native? Workspace, where Gemini shows up a tier earlier. Two-person outfits: possibly neither, yet.

Two things about these prices. Microsoft's SG page prints USD prices to Singapore visitors. Surprising, but that is what it says, and it's quoted above. Google's Workspace pricing page serves prices by location, so no SGD Workspace figure is printed here. Google demonstrably does publish true SGD for its consumer Gemini plans, so expect SGD on the Workspace page when you open it from here. And treat any third-party table (including a cached copy of this one) with suspicion. Prices this fresh should be read, not remembered.

What you're actually buying

Microsoft 365 Business. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, with desktop apps included from Standard. And the 2026 headline: Copilot is no longer a US$30 add-on at this segment. It's in the Standard and Premium bundle. Copilot works inside the documents your team already lives in: drafting in Word, formulas and analysis in Excel, meeting recaps in Teams. If your business runs on serious spreadsheets, Copilot-in-Excel is the single most practical AI feature in either suite.

Google Workspace. Gmail on your domain, Drive, Docs and Sheets, Meet, and Gemini woven in from the lower tiers: write and summarise in Gmail and Docs, meeting notes in Meet, plus NotebookLM-style research tooling in the wider Google ecosystem. Workspace's advantage is where SMEs actually start. Teams already on Gmail and browsers adopt it with zero retraining, and the AI shows up earlier on the price ladder.

The decision-flips: (1) Which tier the AI lands on. Google puts Gemini in at entry tiers; Microsoft's AI starts at Standard ($23.50). So a 5-person team that wants "AI in the tools" prices out differently per suite by hundreds of USD a year. Run it at the tier you'd actually buy. (2) App gravity. Accounting that lives in .xlsx, mail-merge Word docs, clients on Teams? Microsoft. Gmail-native, browser-everything? Google. (3) Billing reality. Microsoft's SG list is USD plus GST, with an annual default. That FX-and-commitment line belongs in your budget, not in a footnote.

Singapore-specific notes

• Microsoft bills SG in USD, and the page states prices exclude GST. Budget the FX and the 9% GST, and note the yearly-commitment default; the monthly-flexible price is higher.
• Google's geo-serving means the only trustworthy Workspace price is the one your own browser shows. It's a two-minute check, and we've made it easy to remember by refusing to fake the number here.
• PDPA: both are mainstream, well-governed clouds used across SG businesses. Either passes ordinary SME diligence. Keep admin roles and 2FA tight; that matters more than the vendor choice.

Which one for which business

• Trades, retail or F&B teams on phones plus a shared inbox: Workspace's lower tiers. Gemini arrives early, and nobody needs Excel macros.
• Professional services living in Excel and client Teams calls: Microsoft Business Standard. The bundled Copilot at USD$23.50 is the best AI-per-dollar in either lineup for that work.
• Mixed or undecided: whichever suite your accountant and biggest client use. Friction with them costs more than any feature delta.
• Already on one: stay. Cross-migrating a small business for AI features is an afternoon of value for a month of pain, and both AIs are converging fast.

You might need neither if…

…you're one or two people on personal Gmail, free Office web apps, WhatsApp and a shared Drive folder. That stack, plus free ChatGPT or Gemini for drafting (the free-tools line), runs a surprising amount of business at S$0. The real upgrade trigger is a custom email domain and shared file control. Buy the suite for those, and take the bundled AI as the bonus it is.

1. Count who needs desktop Office and who's fine browser-only. That alone eliminates one suite half the time.

Is bundled Copilot/Gemini as good as ChatGPT? Different job. Suite AIs shine inside your documents and mail; general chatbots win at open-ended tasks. Many SG teams run a suite AI for in-app work and free ChatGPT or Gemini for everything else (when free is enough).

Can I mix, say Workspace email with Microsoft desktop apps? Common: Workspace for mail and drive, plus standalone Office where needed. It works. You give up the single-suite AI coherence you were promised, so decide what the AI was for.
